The Little Girl and Mushroom
It was a nice summer morning, perfect for being outside. The
two sisters had gone out to eat mushrooms, and were at home with heavy baskets
full of mushrooms. They used to sing songs along the way, and play with each
other.
Soon they reached a point, where they were to cross a
railway track. They did not think twice about crossing it because there was no
train coming, and they could hear no whistle. They slowly climbed the
embankment to cross the track, taking care not to drop the baskets. They were
very near the track and the younger sister was about to cross, when she heard
the horns of a train separate.
The older sister panics and runs back. He thought that the
youth was following him. She turned around and was surprised to see her younger
sister still crossing the track. "Come back here, run back fast," he
sighed.
It seemed that the little girl could not listen to her
sister. She was still stepping on the track with her short legs and focusing on
the basket. She then got trapped and fell on the track, scattering her
mushrooms around. She sat down and picked them up and put them in her basket.
Meanwhile, the elder sister had hysteria. She cried and
screamed, calling her younger sister to drop the mushroom and run back, but it
seemed as if the younger one couldn't hear her.
The engine driver panicked at the girl and blew her whistle
with all her strength, but she appeared not to hear the whistle. Her sister was
now crying a lot, turning away from panic, as the younger sister crawled
between the tracks on her hands and knees, to pick up the rest of the mushroom.
The engine driver was helpless as it was not possible for
him to stop the engine suddenly. He blew the whistle as hard as possible, but
the engine rolled over the little girl. The elder sister grabbed her face with
trembling hands and wept bitterly. The passengers were also nervous thinking
about the scene they were to witness. The guard ran to the end of the train to
see what happened to the little girl. When the train passed, everyone saw him with
his face heavily lying between the tracks.
Then he raised his head, rose to his knees and started
collecting the remaining mushrooms.
The elder sister ran towards her, tears streamed down her
face. They hugged and kissed each other, crying out of joy, tears of joy
flowing down their small cheeks. Never have two souls been so happily together
as they were at the time. She promised her younger sister that she would then
hold her hand tightly while crossing the railway line.
The two sisters then picked up all the leftover mushrooms,
and, hand in hand, went back home. They were actually two souls who had become
smarter than their years in a span of a few years.
