Moral story: Greedy Boy | English story

Greedy Boy:

Greedy Boy, English story

Sam and Tom were identical twins. They were so similar that even their mother, during her early days on earth, found it difficult to distinguish at least one from the other.

However, they were very different from each other when it came to everything other than their appearance. Sam had no friend, while Tom was a great friendship builder. Sam loved sweets, but Tom loved spicy foods and enjoyed sweets. Sam was Mummy's pet and Tom was Daddy's pet. While Sam was generous and selfless, Tom was greedy and selfish!

As Sam and Tom grew up, their father wanted to share their fate equally among them. However, Tom did not agree and argued that whoever proves to be more intelligent and stronger would have to receive a larger share of the wealth.

Sam agreed. His father decided to organize a competition between the two. He asked the two sons to walk as long as possible and returned home before sunset. The money will be divided in proportion to the distance covered. As a rule of the competition, they were not allowed to carry the watch to take care of time.

The next day, Sam and Tom set out for a walk. It was a sunny day. Sam walked slowly and steadily, while Tom broke into a sprint as he bent on winning the race and also winning a large portion of his father's money.

Sam knew that it would be ideal to walk until noon and start for home in the afternoon because it would take the same amount of time to get back home. Knowing this, Sam decides to return home in the afternoon to arrive home on time.

However, Tom, greed to earn more money, did not attempt to return home even after noon. He went twice as Sam, and he thought he would still be able to return home before sunset. When he saw the sun in orange, he returned. Unfortunately, he could not even make it home to the halfway house as the sun set fire. Gradually the darkness widened his path and he had to drag his weary legs back home.

He had lost the race. Only because of his greed. Greed leads to loss.
