Moral Story : The Wooden Bowl | English Story

The Wooden Bowl | English Story

An old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight blurred and his footsteps stumbled. The family had dinner together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's trembling hands and failure made it difficult to eat. Pea rolled to the floor with his spoon. When he grabbed the glass, the milk spilled onto the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated by the mess. "We should do something about the father," said the son. "He didn't have enough milk, noises to eat and food on the floor." So husband and wife put a small table in the corner. There, Grandpa ate dinner alone, while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandpa broke one or two dishes, his food was served in a wooden bowl! When the family glanced at Grandpa's direction, he had tears in his eyes for some time as he sat alone. Nevertheless, the couple had only one word for him that when he dropped a fork or spilled food, he would have a sharp tip.

A four-year-old child watched it all silently.

The day before dusk, the father saw his son playing with a scrap of wood on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you making?" As sweetly, the boy replied, "Oh, when I'm growing up I'm cooking a little bit for you and Mama." The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The parents hit the words so much that they were speechless. Then tears started flowing down his cheeks. Although no word was spoken, both knew what should be done.

The same evening, the husband held Grandpa's hand and gently took him back to the family table. For the rest of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither the husband nor the wife cared when the fork was dropped, weaned, or the tablecloth was soaked.

Moral: You reap what you sow. Regardless of the relationship with your parents, whenever they are gone from your life, you will not miss them. Always respect, take care of them and love them.
